A Novel Reverse Hinge Spoiler for Flight Loads Control

This paper presents the reverse hinge spoiler, a novel spoiler concept, for flight load control. The is control surface mounted on upper of wing. Unlike conventional hinged spoilers that are at their front and rotate forward toward leading edge wing, proposed concept its rear rotates backward trailing aerodynamic performance compared contrasted with different conditions locations using two-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) k-omega SST turbulence model-based computational fluid dynamic solver. results show in larger increase drag sharper reduction lift wide range angles conditions. Reversing found to cause higher adverse pressure gradient as it ‘traps’ more flow, thereby increasing reducing lift.
